High School - September 2026

What a great start to the year! Our high schoolers have hit the ground running, balancing both their in-person and their online classes while also setting a great example for the underclassmen through their Community Service efforts. 

In Writing, both classes kicked off the year by reviewing the basics of brainstorming, outlining, and drafting an essay. They also had an opportunity to practice peer-conferencing. These writing opportunities transferred into Literature for our 9th graders, who studied stories about endurance and presented both a multimedia presentation on the leadership of Ernest Shackleton and an essay on the question, “What motivates me to keep going when I want to quit?”. We also studied excerpts from Hebrews to discuss how we can rely on faith to keep going when things are hard.

In 10th grade Literature, we started off the year learning about the use of imaginative comparison and how to best use it in our writing. We studied different examples of writing where authors used various mechanics for integrating pieces of imaginative comparison into their works. We also studied excerpts from John 1 to see how John himself used imaginative comparison in his writing.

Our 9th graders have also covered a lot of ground already in Algebra and Social Studies. In Algebra, we’ve been learning about different types of equations and how the systematic rules of Math point towards our systematic Creator. In Social Studies, we’ve been studying the various physical features of the earth and looking at how we can see God’s handiwork in them.

Overall, the high schoolers are rocking it so far! Here’s to a great year!
