In first grade, we have been busy learning and growing in many exciting ways!
In reading, we have begun a unit on fairy tales. Students are especially enjoying exploring different versions of Cinderella from around the world and comparing how each story is alike and different.
In math, we wrapped up our study of plane and solid figures. Students did a wonderful job identifying and describing shapes! We have now moved on to learning about numbers in the hundreds, building a strong foundation in place value.
In science, we completed our unit on the seasons and are now learning about weather. Students are discovering how the weather changes and how it affects our daily lives.
In social studies, we are learning about civics and government to help students understand rules, leadership, and what it means to be a good citizen.
We have also enjoyed some special events! Our class took a field trip to the Temple Theatre in Des Moines to watch Doodle Pop. In addition, we had our all-school musical, Seussical Jr., and were so proud of all the hard work that went into the performance.
It has been a joyful and busy time in first grade!
