We have been very busy in our 1st grade classroom! In reading, we have been learning about weather and wind. We have talked about how different kinds of weather can change how we feel and how God shows His power and creativity through the wind and storms. Students have enjoyed sharing their thoughts and making connections between weather and emotions.
In math, we recently finished learning about measuring liquids, temperature, length, and weight. Students practiced using tools to measure and compare. Now we are excited to begin adding 2-digit numbers together. We are working hard to understand place value and build strong addition strategies.
In science, we completed our unit on caring for the human body. We learned how God created our bodies in amazing ways and how we can take care of them with healthy habits. We are now beginning a new unit about the earth and its lights. We are learning about the sun, moon, and stars and how they give light to our world.
In social studies, we have been learning about American history and important people who helped shape our country. Students are beginning to understand how the past helps us learn and grow today.
February was a fun month in our classroom! We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a class party and enjoyed exchanging valentines with one another. We also created special hearts filled with things we love, reminding us of the many blessings God has given us.
