2nd Grade - February 2026

Second grade has been on a roll! We recently celebrated our football-themed reading incentive with a super fun party — and our team truly scored a touchdown! Together, our amazing readers powered through and read over 9,000 words. That’s a LOT of pages, stories, and learning! We are so proud of their effort, teamwork, and growing love for reading.

But the fun didn’t stop there! In math, we’ve been sharpening our skills by learning all about clocks and coins. Students are becoming time-telling pros and money-counting masters as they practice reading analog clocks and counting different combinations of coins. It has been exciting to see their confidence grow with each new challenge. Ask your child to tell you the time or count some change — they might surprise you!

Our classroom has also turned into a time machine as we explored the Wild West. We learned about life as pioneers, the challenges settlers faced, and how families worked together to build new communities. We even traveled (virtually!) all the way to Iceland, discovering fascinating facts about its geography, climate, and unique culture.

We dug deep into history while learning about buffalo and their importance on the Great Plains, as well as the hardships families experienced during the Dust Bowl. Students asked thoughtful questions and made strong connections about how people and animals adapt to their environments.

February also brought plenty of celebration! We enjoyed a sweet and festive Valentine’s Day party filled with kindness, treats, and friendship. Our 100th Day of School was another highlight, with special activities centered around the number 100 and a celebration of how much we’ve learned and grown this year.

Second grade is full of energy, curiosity, and big accomplishments. We are thankful for each day of learning together and can’t wait to see what exciting adventures are ahead!
