These past few weeks in our classroom have been full of exciting learning, creativity, and memorable experiences!

In Science, students are beginning a new chapter focused on the Earth and the solar system that God created. This unit is sparking curiosity as students explore planets, stars, and the design of our world. They are asking thoughtful questions and building a strong foundation for understanding how the Earth fits into the larger solar system.

In Math, the class is starting an engaging chapter on measurement. Students are learning about length, weight, and volume while practicing with a variety of tools and developing problem-solving skills as they compare and estimate measurements in real-world situations.

In Phonics, the focus is on the vowel teams “oi” and “oy.” Students are recognizing these patterns in words, improving reading fluency and spelling. This continued practice is helping build confidence in their literacy skills.

In Social Studies and English, students are diving into lessons about pioneers and Native Americans. Through reading and discussion, they are learning about different ways of life, the challenges people faced, and the history that has shaped our country.

The class also had a special opportunity to learn about Ireland. Students participated in a virtual field trip to explore the country’s culture, geography, and traditions. They were able to speak with Donny, who lives in Ireland, ask thoughtful questions, and learn firsthand what life is like there.

The class is also looking forward to an exciting upcoming field trip to see The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System. This experience will connect directly to what students are learning in science and provide a fun, hands-on way to explore space concepts.

Creativity has been on full display in Art. Students created “Sheepscapes” to explore depth and perspective, learning how to make objects appear near and far in their artwork. They also completed space-themed art projects using baking soda and vinegar, combining art with hands-on science.

Recently, the classroom experienced parent-teacher conferences, providing an opportunity to reflect on student growth and celebrate progress. Following that, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved spring break and returned refreshed and ready to learn.

Overall, it has been a wonderful and productive time in the classroom, filled with learning, creativity, and excitement for what’s ahead. I am truly blessed to spend each day with these amazing students.
