3rd Grade - May 2026

May has been a fun-filled but bittersweet month in third grade! We enjoyed many exciting activities as we wrapped up the school year together. This month, we participated in the Trinity Track Meet, where students worked incredibly hard and showed great sportsmanship during their events. It was wonderful to see students encourage one another.

Our third graders also went on their final field trip to the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad, where we enjoyed a train ride alongside other third-grade classes. Students loved the opportunity to spend time together and make special memories before the school year came to a close. We also had a special Kona Ice treat outside as a class and were amazed by all the talented students who performed in the school talent show.

In Religion, we learned what it means to honor God and explored ways to show our faith and love for Him through our words and actions each day. Students had thoughtful discussions about how we can reflect Christ’s love at school, at home, and in our community.

In English, students strengthened their writing skills by learning to organize clear instructions and continued using their creativity to write and perform plays. In Reading, we completed our class novel, Charlotte’s Web, and celebrated by comparing the book to the movie while discussing themes of friendship, sacrifice, and kindness.

In Math, students explored plane and solid figures and learned about their attributes, including sides, angles, faces, and vertices. Through hands-on activities, students strengthened their understanding of geometry and how these shapes appear in the world around us.

In Science, we investigated food chains and food webs to better understand how plants and animals depend on one another within ecosystems. Students enjoyed learning how God designed creation to work together in such detailed and interconnected ways. In Social Studies, students studied the geography, landforms, and climates of South America while learning about the continent’s unique features and cultures.

As the school year comes to an end, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your support during my first year of teaching. It has truly been a wonderful and memorable year, and I feel incredibly blessed to have spent it with such a caring and enthusiastic group of students and families.
