Fourth graders began 2026 with a novel study of From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. The story follows Claudia Kincaid and her younger brother, Jamie, as they run away from home and secretly live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Their adventure centers on solving the mystery of a beautiful angel statue believed to be sculpted by Michelangelo, leading them to the eccentric Mrs. Frankweiler. We extended the novel through discussions of famous artwork and New York City culture, and students created individual art pieces and models of New York City food trucks.
Students have continued to be challenged in mathematics with long division, fractions, percentages, and decimals! Multiplication timed tests are still a part of our daily routine!
January 25th marked the start of National Lutheran Schools Week! Our theme this year was "Let Us Make a Joyful Noise," taken from Psalm 98:4, focusing on praising God through faith, learning, and service in Lutheran schools. Fourth-grade students participated in Sunday morning services and provided parishioners and parents with a vocal music concert!
