4th Grade - October 2025

Fourth-grade Literature groups have been reading and discussing two unique books: The Hatchet by Gary Paulsen and Little House On The Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Students have enjoyed reading about survival adventures in both stories, practicing skills such as foreshadowing, making predictions, and identifying character traits.

Science lessons during October have focused on the internal and external structures of plants and animals. On October 9th, we took a field trip to the Outdoor Classroom at Swede Point Park in Madrid! It was a beautiful day to explore God’s creation while learning about watersheds, animal adaptations, soils, amphibians, farmer tasks, geology, and prairie ecosystems through hands-on stations. We’re so thankful for opportunities like this to learn outside the classroom and discover the wonders of God’s world together.

We’ve been reviewing basic multiplication facts since the beginning of the school year, and now we are on to the bigger challenge of double-digit multiplication. Learning how to multiply multi-digit numbers is more like a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re in this “race” together!

We ended October with a visit to Boone High School to see SpongeBob: The Musical, and our classroom Harvest Party!
