7th & 8th Grade - January 2026

It has been a busy and productive time in 7th and 8th grade as students continue to grow academically, creatively, and as leaders within our school community.

In science, students are learning about chemical reactions, writing equations to represent those reactions, and practicing how to balance them correctly. This unit has challenged students to think critically as they explore how substances change and interact within God’s ordered creation.

In Language Arts, students are studying pronouns and how these small but important words improve clarity and flow in writing and speaking. In art, students have been developing painting skills while creating personalized Bitmoji-style artwork. They have also been studying perspective and angles through watercolor and ink drawings of their houses.

In math, students are working with graphing absolute value equations while developing an understanding of domain, range, and functions. They have also been factoring expressions by finding the greatest common factor and combining like terms. These lessons strengthen algebraic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Outside the classroom, students have been busy preparing for Seussical Jr., with rehearsals bringing lots of energy and excitement. We are also wrapping up basketball season with the district tournament this week, and are especially thankful for the leadership shown by our 8th graders both on and off the court. During Lutheran Schools Week, students also participated in the all-school choir concert, joyfully lifting their voices in praise and sharing God’s Word through music.

We are proud of the effort, creativity, and leadership our 7th and 8th graders continue to demonstrate and look forward to all that is ahead yet this year.
