The 7th and 8th graders have been busy diving into learning across all subjects this fall! In math, algebra students have been solving real-world money problems—learning about simple interest, commission, taxes, and markups and discounts—while pre-algebra students are mastering multi-step equations and inequalities. Seventh graders have been writing and understanding expressions, adding and subtracting linear expressions, and using the distributive property to mentally find products and sums.
In art, students are creating John Behnke–inspired cityscapes with a creative twist. Science lessons have centered around understanding the periodic table and beginning their study of chemistry and the structure of atoms. In social studies, students have been exploring the Renaissance and the ways this period shaped art, culture, and faith.
Language arts has focused on verbs and strengthening writing skills, and students recently finished reading The Crossover—a fast-paced novel that sparked great discussions about family, perseverance, and faith. Earlier this month, the 7th and 8th graders also had the opportunity to lead chapel with the theme “Create in me a clean heart, O God.”
Our student council sponsored Red Ribbon Week activities to encourage students to make healthy, God-pleasing choices.
There are many ways to get involved and support our middle school students throughout the year:
Sponsor a student for lunch ($70/month or $64/month for reduced lunch) to help offset the cost of free and reduced lunches.
Help out at athletic events such as games or tournaments.
Serve as a memory work partner by assisting a student with their assigned Bible verses.
Pray for our students and families
Also, be sure to join us for Trinity Trivia Night on Thursday, November 14, at 6:30 PM in the Trinity Parish Hall! Come enjoy an evening of fun, fellowship, and friendly competition. The cost is $10 per person, or $80 for a team/table of 8. All proceeds will benefit the 8th Grade Class Trip.
