The month leading up to the celebration of Jesus’ birth is a GREAT time to be in Kindergarten! During Advent, we counted down to Christmas using ornaments that matched the Bible story we read each day. This helped the children connect the season of waiting with God’s promises and the true meaning of Christmas. We also enjoyed creating many nativity-themed arts, crafts, and hands-on activities that allowed students to retell the Christmas story in creative ways.
Our Christmas Service was a wonderful success! All of the students, along with Mrs. Sprengeler and Mrs. Mann, put in a lot of hard work to make it happen. The children did an amazing job sharing the Good News of Jesus’ birth, and it was such a joy to see their excitement and confidence as they participated.
The kids continue to grow so much as learners! They are doing a great job working independently, and it has been exciting to watch the learning and growth happening each day. In Literacy, we have been working hard on phonics and are proud to say we have learned every letter’s sound! We have also learned many sight words, and it is so fun to see the excitement on their faces when they recognize words in print.
In Math, we recently completed a unit on teen numbers, building strong number sense through hands-on practice. In STEM, we conducted a fun experiment to see what would happen when candy canes were soaked in different liquids—sparking curiosity, predictions, and great discussion.
Forest Friday was another highlight this month! With lots of snow on the ground, we did our academic time in Ranger Bartlett’s office. After lunch, we bundled up and played outside in the snow—an experience the kids are still talking about!
We are so thankful for this joyful season of learning and celebrating together. Enjoy celebrating the birth of our Savior—Merry Christmas!
