What a great month we’ve had!
In Reading, we’ve been exploring books about the differences between rabbits and hares. While both have strong legs, soft fur, and long ears, they are quite different. For example, hares live above ground and their babies are born with fur, while rabbits live underground and their babies are born without fur. Next, we’ll be reading books about wind and how it can be helpful.
In Math, we’ve been learning about the tens place and the ones place. We discovered how grouping numbers in tens makes counting easier and faster. We’re now working with the greater than, less than, and equal to signs, using number lines and tens and ones to figure out which sign to use.
For STEM, we challenged ourselves to make the longest paper chain using just one piece of paper in 20 minutes. For Valentine’s Day, we also tried to create a heart using 20 triangles of the same size— it was a tough challenge!
In Science, we’ve enjoyed learning about simple machines, how objects move, and how magnets work. We even built our own marble mazes to see how we could move a marble from one spot to another. We learned that simple machines help us do work, objects move by either pushing or pulling, and magnets can attract or repel objects.
For Social Studies, we focused on the Earth and the resources God has created for us to use. We discussed the importance of taking care of the Earth by reusing, recycling, and reducing—like turning things off when not in use.
