5th & 6th Grade - October 2025

We’ve had a great month in 5th and 6th grade! Everyone is settling into routines, and we’ve been diving into some great lessons and discussions.

In math, both grades have been strengthening foundational skills while building on new concepts. Students have reviewed multi-digit operations, decimals, and exponents, and are now exploring geometry—lines, angles, and division with larger numbers. We’ve also discussed how math reflects the order and design of God’s creation and how these skills apply to everyday life—like estimating while grocery shopping!

In science, students have been learning all about insects and created their own insect collections to share with the class—what awesome work! In P.E., we’ve been playing cooperative games that emphasize teamwork, spacing, and strategy. 5th-grade social studies has focused on states, capitals, and U.S. regions, while 6th-grade social studies has been studying the Reformation and Renaissance.

In English, we’ve been studying verbs—types, tenses, and agreement—and have been growing in our grammar and writing skills. In reading, 5th grade has been exploring Thunder Rolling in the Mountains while learning about Westward Expansion, and 6th grade has been studying figurative language and character growth in Bud, Not Buddy.

In Religion, we’ve been learning how the Holy Spirit gives us the gift of faith through Christ Jesus, how that faith shapes our daily lives, and how we share God’s love with others.

It’s been a wonderful month of learning and growing in 5th and 6th grade—we look forward to what’s ahead!
