Another month has flown by, and so has this school year! We thank God for all that we were able to learn this year, the field trips we went on, and the fun times we had together as first graders!
This month, we continued reading our Geode books with a focus on fairy tales and ancient Egypt. First, we read books about Cinderella, and then we wrote our own Cinderella stories. Next, we explored ancient Egypt and learned how they used hieroglyphics. We even took a virtual field trip to The Sphinx, which was a lot of fun!
In Math, we finished learning how to count money and tell time—we’re experts now! We also began learning about shapes and how to split them into equal parts.
In Science, we started learning about our bodies. We learned about the five senses, and now we’re learning about how we grow.
We did a lot of writing this month, too. We wrote about our favorite things, what makes us smile, the best part of first grade, and what we want to do during the summer. We even made a book to help us always remember our first-grade year!
We also enjoyed the all-school track meet and the all-school musical! It was amazing to see all the students showcase their God-given talents. To wrap up the month, we went to Don Williams to explore the outdoors with the second graders.
