2nd Grade - December 2023

Music is indeed a powerful way to communicate. Our choir was blessed with several opportunities this month to share God’s wonderful plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Both school choirs sang at the Festival of Hope on December 2nd. The entire school shared God’s Word with family and friends during our Christmas service, From Promise to Presence – Waiting for the Savior, on Friday, December 15th.

Our class spent the morning before Christmas break caroling around Boone, sharing the true message of Christmas. We were warmly greeted everywhere we went, and it was clear that the Gospel message touched the hearts of those who heard it. The pure joy of Jesus coming through the voices of our students is a powerful witness to how the Holy Spirit is working in their hearts.

In another project, we worked on celebrating ideas, creating models, making test runs, tweaking problems, and finally launching our completed creations. Teams were challenged to build a catapult that could launch a large marshmallow. It was interesting to watch students collaborate, overcome frustrations, and eagerly test their catapults. Working with others isn’t always easy, but it provides a valuable learning experience.

We also had fun working with adjectives to modify or describe nouns. We saw how adjectives magically enhanced our writing.

In December, we attended an abbreviated performance of The Nutcracker at CY Stephens. The lovely music and beautiful dancing brought the story to life, and many of us were drawn into the amazement of the ballet. It was a new experience for many, but everyone truly enjoyed it.

We were also blessed to visit the Boone Fire Department, where we received a thorough tour of the station. We learned about the various trucks and essential equipment used to keep our community safe. We are indeed grateful for the brave men and women who serve our community.
