November has been a great month for second grade! Our classroom has been full of excitement, learning, and lots of cozy reading moments.
We started a reading incentive program called “Cocoa For Reading,” where students read books to earn hot cocoa or a fancy beverage to enjoy during class. It has quickly become a favorite activity, and students have loved exploring new stories and sharing books with friends.
In math, we wrapped up chapter three and celebrated the progress students have made with addition strategies. After break, we will begin chapter four and transition into subtraction.
In social studies, we have been learning about the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe as we explored the story of the first Thanksgiving. Each day this month, students also had a special thankfulness task to help them notice God’s blessings all around them.
In ELA, we’ve been digging into multisyllabic words, suffixes, plurals, and nouns. The kids have been growing as readers and writers as we study books together and write in our journals.
As we reflect on this month of learning and gratitude, we are thankful for the many ways God guides our growing minds and hearts each day. His love continues to fill our classroom with joy.
