Happy New Year!
We are counting our blessings in 3rd grade...and they are numerous.
Our 3rd graders are pressing on with their academics. We’ve been learning how to read bar and picture graphs, as well as how to collect data and display that information in a graph of their own. They’re also working on estimating sums and differences as they power through math.
In Science, we’re studying the ins and outs of digestion. Students are creating life-size, 2-dimensional models of the digestive system. They’re having fun singing about the esophagus, peristalsis, the liver, and the stomach! The unit will end with a hands-on experiment that models the digestive process from yummy beginnings to stinky ends! Stop by the hallway outside the church office to see our life-size bodies, guts and all!
In January, we celebrated 7 student birthdays and half-birthdays. Despite missing multiple school days due to holidays and weather, we still managed to celebrate the privilege of attending Trinity during Lutheran Schools Week. Our studies in English have focused on adjectives and adverbs, and the students eagerly used stupendous descriptive words to talk about all the fun activities!
Finally, we celebrated Blakeley Larson as the Student of the Month in December. She has demonstrated diligence, hard work, a positive attitude, personal improvement, and personal accountability. Choosing a Student of the Month is always a difficult task with so many wonderful 3rd graders who exhibit such admirable qualities in our learning community.
