We’ve been studying how God created all things and made human beings in His image (Genesis 1:27). We discussed how Adam and Eve lost that image through sin, but how God sent the Second Adam—Jesus—to redeem us. Jesus perfectly fulfilled God’s Law and, through His death and resurrection, reconciled us to God. We also discussed how the Holy Spirit creates faith in our hearts and talked about angels (God’s messengers) who watch over His people. Students have shown great curiosity and asked thoughtful questions as we explored these important truths.
In science, we learned from Genesis 1 how God created the sun, moon, stars, earth, and atmosphere. We discussed how sin changed the earth and how the Flood reshaped mountains and valleys, yet God allowed the land to be renewed as plants and soil formed again.
In reading, we enjoyed stories about Galileo and The Starry Messenger, and we explored space exploration through videos about the first moon landing and books like Moonshot and One Giant Leap.
In math, we practiced renaming ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands to solve multi-digit addition and subtraction, and checked subtraction by rewriting equations as addition. We started multiplication through repeated addition, picture models, and skip counting. The students are gaining confidence as they notice how these skills connect across different problems.
In social studies, we learned how people from many nations came to the United States and brought their customs and traditions, which shaped local communities. Students also explored why immigrants came and the cultural contributions they made.
The K-4th Grade Choir sang at the Hope Festival on November 22. Students joyfully shared the message of Jesus through song to the Boone community. It was a wonderful opportunity to shine Christ’s light through music and service.
We thank God for the many blessings He has given us, especially the gift of faith, and the daily grace and mercy we receive through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
