We have had a wonderful start to our school year in 3rd grade! Each day is a blessing as we grow together in knowledge and in Christ.
In Religion, we have been focusing on the Bible as the true Word of God. We’ve learned the importance of the Law, which shows us our sin, and the Gospel, which shows us our Savior, Jesus Christ. We have also begun studying the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine: Baptism, Confession, the Ten Commandments, the Creeds, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Sacrament of the Altar. These important truths guide our faith and daily walk with God.
In Phonics, we are learning about closed syllables, exceptions to closed syllables, and how suffixes work, along with the rules for using them. In English, we’ve been reviewing the types of sentences and learning to identify the subject and predicate. Writing has been a highlight as students journal and share their writing with one another.
In Reading, we explored the ocean, discovering how sunlight affects ocean life and enjoying the book "The Fascinating Underwater Life of Jacques Cousteau." It was exciting to see how his work helped many people learn about the beauty and importance of the ocean. We also studied ocean-inspired artwork and compared our observations.
In Math, we worked with comparing numbers, rounding numbers, and place value. In Science, we learned about our amazing solar system and marveled at God’s perfect plan in creating Earth to sustain life for us!
We have also enjoyed our daily read-aloud, The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. This story has brought us many smiles and great discussions.
Thank you, Trinity Lutheran Church and School, for giving the third graders their Bibles. The third graders are filled with excitement as they begin using their very own Bibles as we grow together in God’s word and learn how His truth guides our daily lives!
This group of third graders has shown a wonderful spirit of teamwork and encouragement, building one another up in the body of Christ. It’s a joy to see their love for learning and others!
