3rd Grade - September 2026

August and September have been a wonderful start to the school year! We have enjoyed getting to know one another, learning our classroom routines, and beginning a year full of learning and fun. We have also had the opportunity to enjoy God’s beautiful creation through the warm and rainy weather we have experienced. Water Day was a fun time spent together as a class, and, of course, we especially enjoyed cooling off with some delicious snow cones!

Our third graders also have a field trip coming up, and everyone is very excited! We are looking forward to making special memories together and enjoying this opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.

In the classroom, students have been working hard and growing in many areas. In phonics, we have been practicing sound-alike words and learning about 1:1:1 words as we continue building our spelling and reading skills. We have also been focusing on identifying the subject and predicate in English and learning how they work together to make a complete sentence.

Our reading time has taken us on an ocean adventure through a variety of books. As we read, students have been using their Notice and Wonder skills to think more deeply about the text and ask thoughtful questions. It has been fun to see their curiosity grow as they make observations, share ideas, and learn more through reading.

In math, we have been practicing rounding numbers, reading and writing numbers, and learning about Roman numerals. Students are building confidence as they work with numbers in different ways and continue strengthening their problem-solving skills.

We have also been doing a lot of exploring in science and social studies. In science, we have been learning about the solar system and the planets, discovering more about the amazing world God created. In social studies, we have been learning about the continents and where they are located around the world. These lessons have helped students think about both the vastness of space and the world God has placed us in.

In Religion, we have been learning about God’s creation and what He created on each day of creation. We have been reminded of how wonderful and detailed God’s creation is and how thankful we can be for all He has made.

It has been a wonderful beginning to third grade, and I am so proud of all the hard work, growth, and excitement my students have already shown. I am looking forward to all the wonderful things we will learn and experience together throughout the rest of the school year!
