Math - Students are learning how to compute simple long division with remainders. They are also learning how to estimate division problems using compatible numbers. Students are actively working on memorizing their basic multiplication facts, which is very helpful as we dive deeper into division.

Science - Students have been learning about the moon and its phases. We will be conducting an experiment to demonstrate each of the moon’s phases, and students will be able to identify and name them.

Art - Students worked hard on a winter-themed art project that was a multistep, mixed-media creation. They designed a scene with snow falling and a cardinal resting on top of a birdhouse. Materials used included construction paper, watercolor paper, acrylic paint, tissue paper, felt, sequins, and a glue-and-water mixture. Students know from a previous unit that cardinals wouldn’t live inside a birdhouse but might choose to rest on top of one.

Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies - We put a lot of effort into our Living History Museum projects, which involved reading biographies, doing extra research, collecting data, creating timeline posters, writing monologues, and performing for the school, church, and our families. Despite three snow days, we worked both at home and in class, and we want to thank our families for helping us succeed!
