5th & 6th Grade - November 2024

November was a great month for 5th and 6th grade! They continued to rise to new challenges and work together to tackle them.

In Literature, the 5th graders worked to build their skills for reading informational texts. They also worked on writing informational paragraphs to help summarize the information they read. We especially focused on how a strong topic sentence helps convey your main point clearly so that the reader knows what to expect.

Our 6th graders continued to read and discuss Bud, Not Buddy. They have demonstrated amazing collaborative skill in their class discussions, and it’s really neat to see them engaging so richly with the text.

In Religion, both grades have been working on a digital storytelling project. Collaborating with a group of their peers, they are working together to bring a lesson from the Old Testament to life. They have their choice of a variety of mediums that they can use to present, and it has been incredible to watch them work together to dive into God’s Word.

Towards the beginning of the month, we were invited to Boone High School to take in a production of Shrek the Musical. The actors and crew did a phenomenal job, and it made for a fun afternoon!

The 5th graders also got to take a field trip for Social Studies. They walked to the historical society and had the opportunity to learn about our local history.

All in all, it was a fantastic month! I’m incredibly thankful for these hardworking students!
