When’s the last time you gave someone a high five? Was it a greeting? Was it in celebration? In a recent classroom devotion from “Heroes of the Bible” we were challenged to give high fives to God. When God blessed Mary to be the mother of Jesus, she praised Him from the depths of her soul. Luke 1:46
“How my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my savior!”
Today in 2022 what is our response to God’s kindness and love? Is it a prayer of thanksgiving? An act of love towards someone else? Do we offer Him a quick “thanks” like high-fiving someone as they walk by? Or do we forget to praise Him at all? When you stop to consider all that God has done for us, and continues to do for us, does your praise and thanksgiving overflow from the “depths of your soul”? Do our lives offer Him the praise He deserves?
God daily gives us blessings too numerous to count, from providing for our daily needs to the gift of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. Among these blessings is the gift of a Christian Education. As you are well aware, the hallways and classrooms of Trinity provide us with multiple reasons to praise God each and every day.
The Holy Spirit is at work in our Trinity Lutheran School as His children learn who they are in the family of God and see His hand at work in their lives. Children learn to share God’s grace and mercy with one another, they find joy in giving to others, even when it requires giving of themselves.
This provides the ultimate motivation for the rest of their learning— Reading, English, Math, Science, Social Studies, the arts, and all else. Achieving academic success is only a small part of the joy that comes from learning. Praise God for the personal connections that reach outside of the classroom, and even into the child’s high school years and beyond. Having our Trinity High School students (even those who have moved out of state) stop in to visit and spend time with their Trinity family is a blessing and a wonderful testament to what it means to be part of TLS. We rejoice in the work God is doing right here each and every day.
As you go throughout your day I encourage you to not take God’s goodness for granted, follow Mary’s example of praise. Our God, and our redeemer, is worthy of our worship, thanks and even our high-fives!
Isaiah 55:12:
“You will go out with Joy and be let out in peace, the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees in the field will clap their hands.”
