Preschool - January

After spending time with our families at Christmas, it was good also to see our “school

family” at Trinity. I wish to extend a very special Thank You to parents, Cathy Sprengeler, and the other teachers for going ahead with the Christmas service. Through song, the children told of their Savior Jesus’ birth and His love for us all. Thank you to Trinity Church and School, my preschool parents and the children who comforted me upon the loss of my husband, Rod. Heaven is indeed our true home. Thanks be to God the Father who gives us the victory through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Bible lessons in January have shown us how caring and all-powerful Jesus really is. God, the Father, wants us all to believe in His Son’s atoning sacrifice. The Holy Spirit keeps us in this faith through hearing the Word of God and the Sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion. The children learned how Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead, healed a blind man, and fed over 5,000 with only five loaves of bread and two fish. We learned that Jesus is the “Good Samaritan” to us as he cares and loves us poor, helpless sinners. God is like the father who forgave his wandering son and welcomed him back home in the parable of “The Prodigal Son.”

Our general theme this month is animals of all different habitats. We have had animal

stories, song, ‘guess the animal” games and we will have some animal visitors! Mr. Z, from

the Ericson Library, is coming with some animal stories and songs.

We have studied all letters by recognition and sound. We have begun sounding out some words together as a class and the four-year-olds have been exposed to my writing demonstrations. Drawing and beginning writing some words in a journal is coming up next month. Children are also counting further and further. Some can count to 100!

The four-year-olds and five-year olds will be experiencing a day in kindergarten on Tuesday, February 18th for Kindergarten Round-up. Having your child attend kindergarten at Trinity will help you as parents bring your child up in the true faith of our Lord.

The three-year-olds are being checked on colors, shapes, counting, letters, and numerals. Conferences for the 3’s are February 18th and 20th. Sign-up sheets will go home next week. Conferences on Thursday, February 20th, will be held in the kindergarten room.
