What a great month we had in first grade!
In Reading, we enjoyed many great books this month, but our favorite was The Story of Louis Braille. After reading it, we learned the Braille alphabet and even wrote our names using Braille.
In Math, we started adding three numbers together. We were nervous at first, but now we’ve got it down!
In Science, we’ve been learning about sound, light, and heat. For sound, we made our own instruments and created music. For light, we used the sun to create shadows. For heat, we discussed things that keep us warm, like blankets and fireplaces.
In Social Studies, we learned about our needs and wants. We talked about how we need clothes, water, food, and a place to live, and how God provides us with everything we need—especially Him.
In Art, we’ve been busy creating winter and Advent-themed projects. We made gnomes, angels, ornaments, and a nativity scene. We also created posters for the Knights of Columbus about how we keep Christ in Christmas.
