We had the opportunity to experience the miracle of new life firsthand using an incubator to simulate a mother duck roosting on her eggs. As we waited patiently for the 28th day to come when our ducklings were to hatch, we were surprised by 2 baby chicks hatching early at day 21! We had 2 chicks hatch and 3 ducklings. We loved holding them and watching them grow. The ducks were so fun to watch waddle across the floor and swim around. We had an awesome experience, and we are grateful to Mrs. Perry and her son Ben for providing the eggs to hatch. We pray God would watch over them as they live out the rest of their lives in the country.
We have had fun in math learning about units of measurement (inches, feet, yards, centimeters, and meters). We measured, estimated, and compared many things around the classroom. We were shown how important mathematics is to our everyday life. Geometry is fun yet challenging as we learned about quadrilaterals, polygons, triangles, squares, cubes, pentagons, hexagons, vertex, vertices, angels, right angles, and faces.
Our class was blessed to be able to host a special Grandparents Day. Forty guests joined us for the fun filled day. What made this day so extra special is that each 2nd grader was able to spend some quality one on one time with their grandparents. We enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by our cook Mrs. Elsberry, toured our classroom, viewed our art projects, played games, crafted, and performed a vocal concert.
“Grandparents are God’s gift to children….giving generously of themselves through the years with words and hugs to ease young fears, telling lively stories that light up a child’s face, living in faith while finding strength in God’s grace, showing that each day is filled with love. Grandparents are a gift from above.”
We were honored to lead the worship service on Grandparents Day. We centered our worship on our mighty God who is with us at all times and the Holy Spirit who gives us faith to trust in a loving and forgiving God.
We had so much fun preparing for and competing in the track meet we hosted at BHS track. Trying to do our best and cheering on our teammates was exciting.
Our adventure day at Don Williams was a fun and exciting day of learning about mammals of Iowa, bird watching, hiking, and fishing. It was thrilling to see both Acer and Channa catch their very first fish! We were blessed to have Mr. Huedepohl, Mr. Larson, Mrs. Kohnke, and Mrs. Stahr join us for this fun-filled day.
The fun continued as we were part of the all-school musical “Enchanted Sleeping Beauty.” We were both townspeople and fairies. Wearing costumes, singing, and dancing are all ways we added to the enchantment of the musical.
A great year was had at Redemption Ranch. All our ranch hands showed growth in all aspects of their learning: spiritually, academically, emotionally, physically, and socially. The most important thing these ranchers learned was that God loves them, forgives them and through Jesus’ death and resurrection provided the gift of eternal life for them, and that the Holy Spirit has given them faith to believe this and trust the promise God has made. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing it is the gift of God.” Eph. 2:8
To God be the glory!
