This month, our second graders had an exciting opportunity to learn more about God’s amazing creatures through animal reports! Each student chose an animal God created and wrote a special report all about it. We learned fun facts like where animals live, what they eat, and how they survive in the wild. After finishing our reports, we shared what we learned with our classmates during our visit to the Blank Park Zoo. It was so fun to walk around the zoo and see some of the animals we studied! We even got to feed the goats—what a great way to see God’s creatures up close!

We also enjoyed our final Forest Friday at Ledges State Park. We hiked around Lost Lake and had an adventurous time discovering God’s wonders in nature! We found a raccoon skull, saw a frog, turtles, and even spotted one morel mushroom. We also visited the new reading gazebo and read books to the kindergarteners. It was a special way to enjoy God’s creation and practice being leaders and role models.

Another highlight of May was being part of The Wizard of Oz play! We loved playing the roles of Munchkins and bringing the story to life on stage. It was so much fun to sing, act, and work together with our classmates to make the performance a success.

Grandparent’s Day was another memorable time! We enjoyed lunch with our grandparents and shared what they mean to us. We had the honor of leading chapel for the whole school, teaching others about forgiveness through the parable of the Unforgiving Servant from Matthew 18:21-35. We learned that God forgives us unconditionally, and we are called to forgive others just as He forgives us. We spent the rest of the day playing games, reading, crafting, and ended with a mini concert to share the love of Jesus with our special guests.

We also had an adventurous day with Naturalist Kyle, exploring God’s creation in new ways. We built shelters, went bird watching, and even tried our hand at fishing. It was a day full of teamwork, curiosity, and outdoor fun!

Another favorite memory was going back in time to the year 1900 during our visit to Cole School in rural Boone. With the help of Mrs. Callison, we dressed in period clothes and walked to the one-room schoolhouse. We wrote our spelling words and math problems on slate boards with chalk, played old-fashioned games, and ate lunch like students would have over a hundred years ago. It was an awesome and unforgettable day!

As we look back on a terrific fourth quarter, we are thankful for all the ways we have grown in knowledge and in our walk with our Savior. Thank you, God, for a wonderful year!
