What a blessing it is to learn together in a Christ-centered community! Our class verse this year is Colossians 1:10: “Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
Our 3rd graders are learning so much! In English, we tackled sentences, focusing on subjects and predicates. In Social Studies, we’re learning about continents, oceans, latitude, longitude, and how to read maps. Math is all about multiplication, multiplication, multiplication! We’re studying multiplication properties, and students are now being introduced to division. In Art, students are exploring the color wheel, primary and secondary colors, warm and cool colors, and value. Be sure to check out our color and value ice cream cones hanging in the hallway!
We’ve already enjoyed two field trips. First, we spent a day at Ledges State Park enjoying God’s creation and engaging in team-building activities. Our second trip was to Stephen’s Auditorium in Ames to see a musical, followed by a visit to the National Guard headquarters in Boone. The students had a blast checking out night and thermal vision equipment, exploring a Hum-Vee, tasting MREs, and even sitting in the cockpit of a Blackhawk helicopter!
We are also grateful for Pastor Standfest, who joins us twice a week to teach our religion classes and share the Word of God with our class.
