Math - We are adding and subtracting mixed numbers with common denominators and unlike denominators, and learning how to subtract mixed numbers when the fraction’s numerator is too small. Students have also been studying geometric shapes, sides, angles, and lines. Math is fun!
Science - Students are learning about the digestive, circulatory, and nervous systems in humans. We are reading about how each system functions and how to keep each system healthy. We’ll soon dive more deeply into the nervous system. In honor of Earth Day on April 22, we watched a Mystery Science video titled “Does Trash Last Forever?” After the lesson, the students joined their chapel families outside to pick up trash and help clean our earth!
Art - Students will soon be painting colorful tulip bouquets in celebration of Spring!
Reading - We finished the “Heroes” theme in our textbooks, where we read about both famous and ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and we’re now moving on to “Nature: Friend and Foe.” We’re also working on some fun alternative book report projects, such as recipes, comic strips, Minecraft scenes, and more!
Language Arts - We continue practicing writing good paragraphs that include a topic sentence, supporting details, and a closing statement. We are also adding more tools to our writing mechanics toolbox.
Social Studies - We’re wrapping up our study of the northeast region states by creating state report floats. We’ve watched some fun videos about harvesting cranberry bogs, maple syrup, and crabs! The northeast has a variety of unique industries that we all benefit from.
