Welcome, May! My name is Vicki Gustafson and I am in the Fourth Grade room to finish up the year for Mrs. Woolstoon, who is on maternity leave. She left me some excellent lesson plans and ideas to help finish the year strong. Each student has a favorite subject and classroom activity, and work hard to get their work done.
In Math, we’re learning about angles, triangles, lines, and shapes. In Literacy, we’re finishing Walk Two Moons and uncovering how characters like Salamanca, Phoebe, Mr. Birkway, and Mrs. Cadaver are connected. The students have done a great job discussing the story’s deeper meanings.
In Science, we explored how birds use their bodies to catch prey and how our muscles and joints work together. Students even built working finger joints to see it in action!
In Art, each student designed a quilt block as part of a surprise gift for Mrs. Woolston’s baby. Some went above and beyond, creating pillows, animals, wallets, and more—using both hand stitching and the sewing machine.
A big focus in our classroom has been making choices that honor God—thinking through our words and actions, and asking, Would Jesus want me to do this?
I know I’ll be thinking of the students in the future and maybe still see them when I check in at Trinity Lutheran School. Thank you for sharing your child with us.
