4th Grade - November 2024

It's been another great month in 4th grade! I got the opportunity to touch base with parents at conferences and discuss strengths and concerns for each student. The month flew by and we packed in as much as we could. We continuously talked all month about gratitude and recognizing all that God has blessed us with.

In Literacy we continue to work hard on our comprehension and fluency skills. We also wrote a persuasive writing piece. The essay prompt asked the students to convince readers to eat a different main dish for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a fun twist for them as writers as they got to pretend that they were a turkey and convince readers to not eat them for Thanksgiving!

Our main focus in Math this month has been division. We continue to work on estimating to see if our answers are reasonable. We’ve done a lot of work using our multiplication skills to help us in division. We also began tackling the beast that is long division.

We've explored how caucuses and primaries impact our elections. It was fun talking about this topic as it was very relevant given the election. We also started a new unit in science that explores sound.
