5th & 6th Grade - March 2025

March has been a busy and exciting month in fifth and sixth grade! We kicked things off with Read Across America Week, celebrating the joy of reading with fun dress-up days and dedicated Drop Everything and Read time. Students enjoyed diving into books while showing off their creativity through themed outfits.

We also launched our own version of March Madness—reading style! Chapel families have been competing weekly to log the most reading time and move through the bracket. It’s been great to see students motivated to read and cheer on their teams!

In Language Arts, both grades have been sharpening their grammar skills with a focus on pronouns, learning to use them clearly and effectively in writing.

In Literature, sixth graders are wrapping up The Odyssey, exploring Greek mythology, adventure, and the lessons of perseverance found in Odysseus’ journey. The fifth graders have been on an adventure of their own, traveling through the whimsical and thought-provoking world of The Phantom Tollbooth. They’ve enjoyed exploring its clever wordplay and deeper messages about curiosity and learning.

With spring around the corner, we’re excited for more engaging lessons, continued reading challenges, and new opportunities to grow.

We’re also gearing up to begin rehearsals for our school’s spring musical, The Wizard of Oz! I can’t wait to see our talented students bring this classic to life on stage. It’s sure to be a fantastic experience for all, and we look forward to sharing the final production soon.
