Kindergarteners are having a great month! We have spent a lot of time learning about and celebrating our Lord Jesus’ passion and resurrection. For Palm Sunday we made donkeys and palm leaves. For Maundy Thursday we learned about the Lord’s Supper and made a cross craft with important events from Holy week.
It's been a productive month in Literacy! April is National Poetry month and we have been reading and writing poetry. We practiced giving a speech with a “What’s in my Egg?” project, in which each child hid something in a plastic Easter egg, and then wrote and read aloud clues about what was in it. In Phonics we learned about silent Es and we can sound out and spell so many more words now! We continue working on sight words, sounding out words and handwriting.
Math has been focused on telling time. The kids are getting really good at analog and digital time to the hour and half hour.
For Physical Education we have been working on learning skills for our upcoming track meet. We are learning to jump rope, pass the baton in relay races, and do the over and under race.
In Science we are learning about butterflies! We are studying metamorphosis and parts of a butterfly’s body, and watching it in action. On May 6 we will take a field trip to the butterfly wing at Reiman Gardens.
