Kindergarten - March 2025

March is such an exciting, hopeful month! In our Lent devotion, we have been reviewing Jesus’ life and looking forward to His great work for us. Spring has officially arrived, and we’ve had warm weather! We've enjoyed recess and even had PE outside.

In Art, we did a directed drawing of Dr. Seuss’ Horton the Elephant and used oil pastels to make truffula trees.

STEM has been focused on our classroom robots. We’ve learned how to use them and tackled challenges like making them drive in a continuing loop.

The first week of March, we celebrated Read Across America Week with dress-up days and special activities. Parents and other special adults visited our class to read their favorite books—the children loved it!

Literacy continues to focus on sounding out words, reading speed, and accuracy. It’s amazing to see students who couldn’t sound out a word a few months ago now enjoying simple books! Their writing has also improved—check out our “Reading Bug” writing activity in the hallway!

This month in Math, we wrapped up a unit on putting together and taking apart numbers (a precursor to addition and subtraction) and have now started addition. The kids were excited to use the +, –, and = symbols!

We also welcomed a student teacher, Mrs. Callahan, on March 4! Some of you may recognize her as the kindergarten aide from last year. She brings great compassion and enthusiasm, and I look forward to the fun and growth she’ll bring to our class. She’ll be with us through early May.
