“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”
—Albert Einstein
In Science, we are studying speed, velocity, and acceleration while learning to program and control “Spheros.” We’re coding, problem-solving, and collaborating to program our Spheros to accurately maneuver through obstacles. From the moment we connected the Spheros to our iPads, we knew we were in for a hands-on challenge. We’re learning much more than just facts—we’re learning to problem-solve, code, build, work together, and persevere when challenges arise.
In Math, we are stretching our brains to a higher level of understanding as we study fractions, geometry, solve linear systems of equations, create circle graphs, and work with proportions.
In Social Studies, we are diving deeper into the Cold War, Imperialism, Nationalism, and the histories of Asia and Europe. We love discovering how history continues to shape our present-day culture. One of our favorite parts of class is “Today in History,” which sparks so much engaging discussion.
In Art, we’re growing in creativity and craftsmanship. We developed our understanding of foreground, middleground, and background by creating landscapes in the style of Robin Mead. Our next challenge is a "morph drawing," where we’ll blend an insect and a machine into a unique composition.
As Einstein said, “education is not the mere learning of facts, but the training of our minds to think!” We’re embracing this mindset as we continue our learning journey.
